Moist and oh so delicious, this apple bread recipe topped with sweet cinnamon crumbles will become one of your absolute favorite things to make – and your family and friends will want you to make it often. It’s so easy to whip up, that you can have it ready in no time.

Apples are one of those fruits that everyone loves and usually has around the house. Any type of apple will work in this recipe. Whether you have Golden Delicious, Ida Reds, Granny Smiths, etc. – it doesn’t matter. And you can peel them or not – it’s up to you. The apple pieces will be small enough that the apple peel won’t be noticeable and will provide a little extra fiber.

A great way to keep the bread from sticking to the bottom of the pan is to use parchment paper. Cut out a piece to fit in the bottom of the pan and you don’t have to grease it. Simply use a knife to free the baked bread from the edges when you’re ready to remove it from the pan and you will be able to tip it out; then just carefully peel the parchment from the bottom.

The Best Apple Bread Recipe

Ingredients for the Best Apple Bread:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and finely chopped

Topping ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened (room temperature)
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions for making the Best Apple Bread:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter, blend in the eggs and sour cream. Add the flour, soda and salt, mix just well enough to incorporate. Mix in the vanilla. Stir in the apples. Spread the batter in the bottom of a greased loaf pan (or one lined with parchment – see above).

In a small mixing bowl, stir together the topping ingredients with a fork. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the bread batter.

Bake for 55 – 60 minutes or until done.
