The holidays can be a joyful time of year. All around you, uplifting carols are playing in a majority of shopping centers, there is plenty of candy to go around, everyone seems to be of good cheer, and festive lights everywhere.

In this still shaky economy, many are turning to working seasonal holiday gigs for extra income.

However, be advised that not all holiday jobs are created equally.

According to Ruth Mantell of the television show entitled: "Marketwatch" below are both the best and worst holiday jobs.

A majority of the worst jobs were cited as such due to rude customers, weather elements, physical labor, and lack of pay/benefits. The jobs listed in the best category were categorized based on high profit margins for companies, monetary tips from customers, and long-term employment prospects,

5. Food servers

The Worst
1. Santa's Elf
2. Christmas tree attendant
3. Airport helpers
4. Taxi cab driver
