Best Advice on Pet Behavior Comes from Professional Animal Trainers

Dogs and cats tend to be so cute they tug at the heart strings of every animal lover who looks at them. However, the selection of a new pet should not be done on impulse. These cute, furry creatures are capable of biting, chewing, scratching, making noises, and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage to household items.

There are many well-meaning people who are willing to give free advice on how to correct unwanted pet behavior; however, the best and most consistent advice comes from qualified professional animal trainers.

There are different types of professional trainers. They can be categorized as trainers who have some kind of title such as “pet therapist”, professional dog trainers who are certified, applied animal behaviorists who may or may not have certifications, and behaviorists from the College of Veterinary Behaviorists.

Even though pet trainers are masters of their crafts, pet training takes time and patience on the owner’s part. Once the trainer has finished training the pet, the owner must continue working diligently with the animal to maintain the lessons the animal (and the human) has learned.
