Columbus Crew midfielder Bernardo Anor was voted Major League Soccer's Player of the Week yesterday for Week Three of the 2014 MLS season.

In the Crew’s 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, Anor scored both Columbus goals during the first half, leading the Crew to their first 2-0-0 start in the club’s history.

In the 24th minute, Crew forward Federico Higuain launched a high arching corner kick into the box, where a wide-open Anor ran onto it for powerful header that bounced once past a crowd of Union defenders and into the net.

In the second minute of first half stoppage time, Anor scored the eventual game-winning goal. Crew midfielder Wil Trapp won possession in the midfield and played a one-touch ball to Anor, who took two touches before sending a left-footed rocket from 35 yards out past Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath.

The Crew will take to the road in its next match on March 29 against the Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters group.
