According to Lori Ewing of the Canadian Press on Wednesday, Canadian Olympic silver medalist Cheryl Bernard of Calgary, plans to run in a marathon in Calgary with the proceeds going to World Vision.
Bernard won a silver medal in curling for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
Bernard is an ambassador for World Vision, and plans to blog about her progress on her personal website, www.cherylbernard.com.
The sport of curling meanwhile is at the top of the Canadian sports scene at the moment because the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials are currently taking place in Winnipeg. Calgary's Kevin Koe delivered his first victory on Thursday by a score of 7-6 and in the process eliminated Glenn Howard of Ontario. Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg leads the women's side and Brad Jacobs of Sault. Ste. Marie, Ontario leads the men's side.
Bernard won the 2009 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Edmonton when she defeated Shannon Kleibrink of Okotoks, Alberta 7-6.
