Tomorrow at noon in front of the court house, Berkeley women will dance with a billion women all over the world who dance to end violence against all women everywhere. One Billion Rising was created by Eve Ensler who has made it her mission to represent the women of the world who have been systematically and culturally abused. Abuse of women and intimate partners does not represent any particular class, age or economic status, location or religion. The statistics are that a woman is beaten somewhere in the world every three minutes, and tomorrow women everywhere will gather to dance to declare the end of tolerance to torture, beatings and brutality of women.

Eve Ensler produced "The Vagina Monologues," over 15 years ago in most parts of the world. It was just the beginning for Eve Ensler's work to raise awareness and create change around the abuse of women globally. Her last work, "EmotionalCreatures." was produced at the Berkeley Rep in June 2012, with Berkeley High School students engaged in the performances.
Eve traveled the world and saw the mutilation and brutality of women. She claimed Valentine's day as Vagina day to emphasize the need for women everywhere to honor and claim their safety and their support from the world around them for themselves and each other. Eve chose Valentines Day for One Billion Rising. http://onebillionrising.org
