Concert producer and promoter Mike Somavilla has done it again. The man who is the walking Wikipedia of every tremendous band to have beginnings or endings in the San Francisco Bay Area, has booked a tremendous collective of rich music roots on a night to collaborate. On March 26, in an exclusive interview for examiner.com, Somavilla revealed his entertainment lineup coming to Berkeley’s Art House Gallery & Cultural Center on April 5, 2014.

The evening is advertised simply as: “Stevie Barsotti & Friends” but it should be subtitled “a 30-year Collective of Amazing Rock.” The lineup is anchored by Barsotti (Stevie B), Robbie Dunbar, Steve Nelson, John Sergeant, Scott Donaldson, John Hickman and Will Sparks.

Somavilla said, “Many of the musicians have performed together for years such as Barsotti and Donaldson in Haymarket Riot. Both Robbie Dunbar and Steve Nelson were part of Earth Quake, and of course Dunbar was a key part of the Greg Kihn Band.” Also, “Sergeant was in Purple Earthquake, and Hickman was in the King Bees and The Burning J’s. Barsotti was also part of Lazarus and Country Joe McDonald,” said Somavilla. If anyone knows touring, it’s these musicians.

“I’ve been trying to get all these great musicians in the same place at the same time,” said Somavilla, “and finally it’s coming together. The audience will be glad they caught this show.”

Stevie B. & Friends’ musical lineup will feature Barsotti on bass and vocals, Dunbar on guitar and vocals, Nelson on drums, Sergeant on keyboards and vocals, Donaldson on guitar and vocals, Hickman on guitar, and Sparks on flute, sax, and piccolo. The classic period poster was designed by Mike Dolgushkin.

The Art House Gallery & Cultural Center is located at 2905 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley and tickets are only $10, available at the door. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the concert will start at 8 p.m. It’s a night you won’t want to miss.
