Berisha late goal earns Brisbane another point

Besarat Berisha has again come to the rescue for Brisbane Roar as they managed to come back and claim a 1-1 draw against the Melbourne Heart.

Berisha was handed a one match suspension after his involvement in a post match scuffle one week ago, but due to his right to appeal being used he was allowed to play in this match and certainly made his impact felt.

Melbourne Heart perhaps surprised people with their efforts to come at Brisbane from the start, while Brisbane also looked to go for goal creating a very open and end-to-end opening 45 minutes.

Thomas Broich was denied by a great Brendan Hammil tackle in the opening ten minutes before he went on to set up Massimo Murdocca, whose poor finishing continued as he sent his shot over the bar.

Heart had their first chance through Alex Terra who was able to round the keeper but his angle was too tight and he had no support so was unable to finish the opportunity.

Issey Nakajima-Farran was booked for diving, allowing the Heart another opportunity as Terra slid in to meet Aziz Behich's cross but was only able to send it wide.

It was a sign of things to come as Heart scored in the 31st minute Behich nutmegged Berisha before making a great run down the left and sending in a great cross for Terra to take a shot, his shot was deflected off Sayed Mohammed Adnan, bouncing up for Jonaton Germano to head home.

Brisbane Roar looked almost offended by the fact that they had conceded first and they worked hard for an equalizer and they earned a penalty late on as Broich's cutback pass was handled in the box by Germano.

Despite that Berisha hit the penalty well over the bar, delighting the home fans, Broich had two more chances late on in the half but sent one over the bar before Bolton made a great save to keep it 1-0 for the Heart at halftime.

Broich continued to shoot astray as he missed yet again early in the half allowing the Heart to counter and nearly double their lead as Germano forced Theoklitos in to a fantastic save.

James Meyer's introduction allowed the Roar to gain more control and push more men forward and he was a big part of the equalizer.

Broich sent the ball to Meyer who in turn sent the ball to Ivan Franjic before a cross that was flicked up by Mitch Nichols allowing Berisha to nod home.

Melbourne Heart didn't let their heads get down and they hunted a winner, twice being denied a good shout for a penalty within 30 seconds of eachother.

Behich was then next to line up as he made a great length of the field run but he saw he shot deflected which sent it wide.

Melbourne Heart's chances really ended ten minutes from time as Kristian Sarkies and Brendan Hammill were injured, giving Brisbane another chance but it really killed off the match as it ended 1-1.
