Bentley Continental GT convertible goes dune surfing

The Bentley Continental GT convertible is one of the most expensive luxury cars that comes with sports car performance and all the amenities one would expect from a $200,000 USD price tag. Only in Dubai would one push the mechanical limits of this expensive vehicle and take it sand dune surfing! Surprisingly enough, the Bentley does very well despite it's rear wheel drive layout. One would think a heavy, rear wheel drive vehicle in soft sand would just sink; however, that is not the case. Keeping up momentum during the entire trail ride, this convertible quickly navigates even the deepest sands of Dubai's dunes.

When trailing in sand, momentum and inertia is key to staying afloat. Stopping the vehicle can surely mean disaster, as then the full weight of the vehicle is creating downward pressure instead of forward inertia. With the weight of the Bentley Continental GT convertible sitting stout at 5,500 pounds, stopping it in the sand is like asking a rock to float on water; it's going to sink! These guys might seem crazy for driving the Bentley in the sand, but they do know a thing or two about physics.

This is probably the most expensive way to get through the dunes of Dubai. Most people would suggest taking a Jeep, Hummer, or other four by four equivalent. Not these guys! "Let's take the Bentley, yo!" The problem with doing this is that it's not good on the vehicle no matter how you look at it. The air intake is going to get clogged with sand dust, the brakes and wheels clogged with sand, and the paint will effectively be sand blasted. This is no way to treat a Bentley, but I really doubt these guys are hurting for money. Enjoy the following extremely rare footage of the most expensive luxury sedan turned undercover sports car to ever grace the planet hitting up some sand dunes. Surf's up dudes!
