Bensenville, IL – The Village of Bensenville was awarded a $400,000 grant from the DuPage County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for a construction project in the Volk Brother’s Subdivision set to begin this June.

Over the last few years the Village has been successfully applying for CDBG funds to complete the construction of new streets, sidewalks, curbs, sewers, and water main in the Volk Brother’s Subdivision. In total the Village has received over $2.0 million grant dollars towards the construction of these much needed improvements.

“Actively pursuing grants is a great way to save the Village money and make tax dollars go farther,” stated Village President Frank Soto. “We are constantly researching and applying for grant funding wherever possible to provide the maximum amount of benefit for the lowest possible cost to our residents and businesses.”

CDBG is a Federal Government program that is administered locally by DuPage County. “The Village of Bensenville is grateful to DuPage County for awarding this important grant. Without these opportunities, this type of project would otherwise be difficult to fund,” said Village President Soto.

With the completion of this fourth and final phase of construction the entire neighborhood will now provide a much safer route of travel for pedestrians and vehicles while simultaneously improving aesthetics and flood control.

“This neighborhood is heavily traveled by children due to its proximity to the Library, a Water Park, Park District Facilities, Fenton High School, and Blackhawk Middle School.” said Village President Frank Soto “This is a beautiful area with many amenities not found in many communities. This project makes this important area safer and more walkable for our residents.
