Benghazi: Secretary of Defense Panetta says President Obama never called back

Secretary Panetta told the Senate Armed Services Committee that President Obama never called back to check on the situation in Benghazi during the entire 8-hour attack. The Weekly Standard reports on Thursday, Feb. 7, that there were no further phone calls from the President or the White House after an initial scheduled discussion at 5 p.m.

The Right Scoop has the two-part video of the heated exchange between Secretary Leon Panetta and Senator Lindsey Graham.

Under intensive questioning from Senator Lindsey Graham, Secretary Panetta admitted that the President left the decisions of the operation up to them. President Obama never called back, nor did Panetta ever talk to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the course of the attack on Benghazi.

Panetta later refused to admit that he was the one in charge, nor would he confirm that Secretary Hillary Clinton was in charge. At one point, seemingly flustered under the questioning, Panetta responded that the Ambassador (Chis Stevens) was in charge, the Ambassador who was under attack at the time!

At this stage, there are still more answers that need to come in, as Senator Lindsey Graham indicated.
