Jerome Simpson has been indicted on drug trafficking charges stemming from a September incident when police seized 2.5 pounds of marijuana from his Crestview Hills, Ky. home.
The police also allegedly confiscated another six pounds of pot, scales and other drug paraphernalia inside the home. Simpson could face 1-5 years in prison if he is convicted.
Another issue for Simpson is that he is an unrestricted free agent after the end of the season. He finished with 50 catches for 725 yards and four touchdowns (one which will remain in highlight reels for years to come). He did have eight drops this season, which put him in the top ten in the NFL.
Owner Mike Brown has been getting rid of the Bengals' off the field problems when he sent Chad Ochocinco to New England and Carson Palmer to Oakland. Simpons' performance and off the field issues could have him in different uniform next season if he's eligible to play.
Also present at the time of the search was Bengals' offensive tackle Anthony Collins, but he was not indicted on Thursday.
