In today’s battle between the NFL’s largest cats, the Bengals declawed the Detroit Lions with a 27-24 victory. Bengals kicker Mike Nugent won his second straight game with a 54-yard field goal with time expiring.
A terrible 28-yard punt by Lions rookie P Sam Partin opened the door for the Bengals to get close enough to kick a winning field goal. The game matched two talented young quarterbacks battling it out. Lions QB Matthew Stafford passed for 357 yards and tossed three touchdowns. Lions Superstar “Megatron” (Calvin Johnson) hauled in two touchdowns from Stafford and finished the game with 155 receiving yards.
Bengals QB Andy Dalton had another stellar day as he also matched Stafford with three touchdowns and 372 passing yards. Bengals WR A.J. Green matched Calvin Johnson with 155 yards and one touchdown.
Bengals TE rookie sensation also caught his first career touchdown and picked up 45 receiving yards. The Bengals win over Detroit has them in sole position of first place at 5-2. Next week, the Bengals host the New York Jets.
