Benefit your heart with Valentine's Day fitness

February is heart month and most of us think of the romantic message of Valentine's Day. But there are some great events coming to our area that you and your sweetheart can combine fitness with love.

If you are ready to get moving for the American Heart Association, there is a 5K run/walk event called "Red Run" on Feb. 8th starting at 8:00 a.m. at The Shops at La Cantera.

This is the 2nd annual Red Run presented by Carrera Races Inc. Registration is available online along with all the race details at: www.CarreraRaces.com. It is a Chip-timed Race and after the race there will be food and fun. Plus there are lots of shops to enjoy as you are cooling down.

The proceeds from the race benefit the American Heart Association (AHA) which has the mission "..to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke." The organization delivers education and research to support this mission. To learn more see, www.Heart.org

For a slower pace, there will be a Yoga Mini-Workshop at the Two Hearts Yoga and Fitness on Sunday Feb 9th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The location is at 5309 McCullough Ave. Stephanie Carter will conduct the workshop for new and experienced students. A suggested donation of $15 benefits the scholarship fund for the Esther Vexler Yoga school. Check the link above to learn more about the class schedule and other events.
