Benefit shows rule this week in Orlando music

This coming week, February 24 – March 2, there are several benefit shows scheduled featuring live Orlando local music. There are some great opportunities for music fans to give back to the community while enjoying some terrific live music.

On Saturday at Romansa Café (140 S. US HWY 17-92, Longwood) is a benefit show for the family of slain deputy Jonathan “Scott” Pine. There will be live music from Amp’D, The World Famous Trans Ams, On Went Caesar, Micha and the Reason, Pure Vinyl, Mad Hatter Band and the Universal Studios Blues Brothers Band. This event kicks off at 1 p.m. and there will be a raffle for cash prizes. There is a $10 cover charge for this charity event.

Also on Saturday is a benefit event for the American Diabetes Association at Bombshell’s Tavern, 5405 Edgewater Dr. There will be live music from Keeper, Chris Erwin, Breaking Lusy and Chris Allen at this all ages event. This event runs from 1-6 p.m. and tickets are $10.

On Sunday at Wills Pub and Lil’ Indies is the Whole Planet Fest, a benefit for the Whole Planet Foundation. There will be live music from Flashlights, Emily Kopp, Jr. Meowzer, Evan Taylor Jones, The Getbye, Milk Carton Superstars, Sterling Schroeder and The Chosen Ones, Afeefa & the boy, Kelly Craven, Robert Johnson, Roger Amundsen (Jubal's Kin), Lauren Carder & The Multiple Me, Bella Sutra, Scotty Crow and Due South (with Sarah Purser). There will also be a craft and art sale, bake sale, food from Whole Foods Market and much more. Tickets are $10 and the doors open at 6 p.m.

Monday, February 24

Will’s Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Live music from Kelly Craven, Gerald Perez, Simon Palombi, Phil Longo, Greg Hughes and Adam Goodrich for this FREE 21+ show. The doors open at 9 p.m.

The Social - 54 North Orange Ave. - Live music from The Black Angels, Roky Erickson and Golden Animals for this 18+ show. Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door. The doors open at 8 p.m.

West End Trading Company - 202 S. Sanford Ave. (Sanford) - RPR presents open mic hosted by singer/songwriter Deanna Carolina at 8 p.m. This FREE event is 18+.

Tuesday, February 25

The Red Lion Pub - 3784 Howell Branch Road - Twisted Tuesday with Holey Miss Moley for this 18+ show. This FREE event includes live music and other entertainment as well as a home-cooked meal, with a donation to the Red Lion Community Emergency Fund. The live music starts at 7:30 p.m.

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - Norsekorea presents live music from Norma Jean, Spoken, My Heart To Fear, Old Again and Fear the Concept for this show. The doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $12.

Smiling Bison - 745 Bennett Road - Live music from the John Krasula Jazz Trio at 7 p.m. for this FREE show.

World of Beer UCF - 3402 Technological Ave., Suite 202 - Live music from singer/songwriter Justin Foyil at 9:30 p.m.

Wednesday, February 26

Infusion Tea - 1600 Edgewater Dr. - Soft Exposure 100 guitars is an acoustic night of guitar music with singing optional. All musicians will be interviewed and engaged into one on one interviews. This event runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Space - 1206 E. Colonial Dr. - Psych Nights featuring live music from Me Chinese, Ghost Foot, Room Full Of Strangers, Gloomwolf, The Haroux, and Ill Natives. Tickets are $5 and the doors open at 9 p.m. This venue is BYOB.

Will’s Pub - 1042 N. Mills Ave. - Live music from The New Sam Rivers Rivbea Orchestra for two sets, one at 9:30 p.m. and the other at 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and the doors open at 9 p.m.

BB Kings Blues Club - 9101 International Dr. - Live music from B.B. King’s All Star Band from 7:30-11:30 p.m.

Dexter’s Winter Park - 558 W. New England Ave. - Live acoustic music from Micah at 6:30 p.m.

Jazz Tastings - 164 Lake Ave. (Maitland) - Live music from the John Valeri Quartet at 7 p.m.

Smiling Bison - 745 Bennett Road - Jazz Garage, an evening of improvisational jazz music, hosted by Matt Lapham and featuring special guests at 10 p.m. There is no cover charge for this event.

Thursday, February 27

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - BookedPro presents live music from Forty Winters, Dealey Plaza, A Fight For Life, (de)absolve, Inside the Vicious Heart and Valkaria for this all ages show. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The doors open at 6 p.m.

Odin’s Den - 1335 Howell Branch Road - BookedPro presents live music from Soul Rift, Atlas, Embrosia, Thicket and Don’t Cry its Friday for this 18+ show. Tickets are $6 for 21+ and $8 for 18-20. The doors open at 8 p.m.

The Social - 54 North Orange Ave. - Two shows with Iron & Wine (solo performance). One at 5 p.m. with Jesca Hoop and the other show is at 9 p.m. with Langtry. Both shows are sold out.

The doors open at 1 p.m. for this FREE show.

The Haven - 6700 Aloma Ave. - Sick World Radio’s 2 year anniversary bash featuring live music from Bonz, Black N Blue, F.I.L.T.H, Meka Nism, Atemus and Stereo-Type for this special show. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. The show will be broadcast live on Sick World Radio.

Central Florida Fairgrounds and Expositions Park - 4603 W. Colonial Dr. – WJRR’s Native Noise Rock Night featuring live music from SoulSwitch, Leaving Haven and Blaine the Mono. The show is FREE with the $10 fair admission. The show starts at 7 p.m.
