It would be hard to pick a person more responsible for keeping the Blues alive in the Tri-State area of Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia than Dennis Wright. He is the man behind Blues Gate Jams. Dennis has played with Paul Pfau, Milkfoot, and the Kat McGrath Band to name just a few bands. On Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Longshots Billiards 76 Wolfcraft Way, Charles Town, West Virginia the local blues community and friends are putting together a benefit concert for Dennis and his wife Cathie. Sadly, Cathie just lost her battle with cancer this month.
Featured bands include one of the areas best young guitarists in Paul Pfau, slide master Dru Lore, The Live Steam Blues Band, and The Unknown Origins. Plus there will be special acoustic sets by Dan Cronin and Jimmy Cherry. The evening will wrap up with a blues jam in true Blues Gate style.
Besides the fantastic music there will also be 50/50 raffles, door prizes, silent auctions, and a bake sale. Longshots has full a full bar and serves a full menu. They are asking for a $10 donation at the door. The entertainment will be well worth it and it is all for a very good cause. The venue is located right off of route 340. Nearby attractions include casino gambling, horse racing, and Harpers Ferry. However, the biggest attraction might be Sunday’s music.
