Benefit dance for a Rockford dance studio

This past December, a terrible fire broke out in the building where the CMC Dance Studio was located. January 27th 2013, will host a benefit dance for them at Tebala Shrine Center in Rockford from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $5. There will be dancing to the live music of Band of the Lost, a silent action, 50/50 raffle, food and drinks for purchase, and a performance by the CMC dancers themselves.

CMC, which stands for Creative Movement Company, moved into the Rockford scene in June of 2012. They teach classes in ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, and hip hop to those aged 2 through adult. Their dance team has won numerous awards at competitions including Standout Dancer, two overall awards at Dupree in Chicago, and several gold awards in both Illinois and Wisconsin competitions.

As Claudia Tarara from CMC succinctly says, “The fire has taken away our home, but not our faith. We will dance and come out stronger on the other side.” You too have the opportunity to make a difference in these dancers lives, and dance the afternoon away as well!
