This time we wanted to let you know about an upcoming benefit concert by the The Golden Gate Philharmonic (GGP).
The GGP started in 1984 as an after-school enrichment program at San Francisco’s public middle schools, with the goal of fostering orchestral talent in its inner-city community.
Its program has received national recognition and boasts a solid record of achievement in both musical excellence and outreach.
The common goal of performing challenging music enables youngsters to overcome background differences and to open exciting new horizons to all.
Through this experience they learn respect for one another and discover individual strengths hitherto unknown. Many lives have been changed through the power of music!
The GGP has become an essential part of these inner city kids' afterschool community. The group is open to all, regardless of socio-economic background or race, starting with beginners in the 'cadet' orchestra and offering more advanced studies in GGP "Camerata" orchestra.
