Beneficial debate?

Tuesday, the fourth of February will mark an interesting moment in the greater tri-state area. Ken Ham, founder of the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky, will debate creation and evolution with Bill Nye “the Science Guy.” Ham is interested in sharing the message of the Bible through the Creation Museum and the debate this Tuesday. There are already hundreds of thousands of people already registered online to watch the debate streaming live via the internet. The Creation Museum has become center stage for the age-old religion versus science debate.

Colossians 4:5-6 states, “Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” Paul instructed his followers to speak with grace and walk in wisdom. Regardless of personal feelings about the debate tomorrow night, Christians in Cincinnati ought to pray that Ken Ham speaks with wisdom and grace empowered by the Holy Spirit. First Corinthians reminds Christians in Cincinnati that the wisdom of God seems like foolishness to those who do not believe.

Perhaps the best course of action for Cincinnati Christians is to be in prayer for the debate tomorrow night. Cincinnati Christians should be praying that the grace, wisdom, and truth of the Bible shines through the debate. While the topic of the debate is creation versus evolution, what is at stake is the perception of Christians and the Scriptures. Christians in Cincinnati need to be in prayer that the Scripture stands out as truth, life and the Word of God. Cincinnati Christians, churches and ministries need the wisdom of God to speak with grace and truth. The rest of convincing the world of the truth of the Bible is the work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts and minds of everyone. Pray that the Word of God is revealed to those who need to hear the life giving truth contained within its pages.
