Young Chicago sculptors ages 3 to 12 are invited to participate in the Bendaroos Create Your Dream Contest for Kids. Children can use these colorful, flexible building sticks to construct a small model or artwork depicting their dream and submit a picture of it for a chance to win prizes like gift cards and Bendaroos sets.
What are Bendaroos?
Flexible, reusable building sticks made from wax-coated string, colorful Bendaroos can be bent and stuck together in a variety of ways over and over again. Suitable for kids ages 3 and up, they promote skills like creativity, visual intelligence, and fine-motor skills.
Bendaroos retail in sets of 500 building sticks and (coming this fall) smaller theme packs of 100 and 200 building sticks. They can be purchased at Chicago retailers such as Toys R Us, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Kmart.
How to enter art contest for kids
To enter this creative art contest for kids, children should use Bendaroos building sticks to build or otherwise create a 2-D or 3-D artwork that depicts their dream, such as "a goal they would like to achieve, a favorite destination or a gift they hope to own." Children's chosen subjects are limited only by their imaginations.
Once kids have created their piece of Bendaroos art, they should photograph it, visit the Bendaroos Web site and sign up for a Bendaroos Kidszone account, click on their age category (3 to 6, 7 to 9, or 10 to 12), and upload the image of the art work. Entries must be received by September 30, 2009.

Art contest for kids judging and prizes
Bendaroos artworks will be judged on criteria such as originality, artistic excellence, difficulty to construct, and use of color by judges including an art teacher and a fine artist.
One grand prize winner in each age category will win a $500 American Express gift card and a chance to see his or her art work included in a Bendaroos commercial. One first prize winner in each age category will win a $100 gift card and a 500-piece Bendaroos set. One second prize winner in each age category will win a 500-piece Bendaroos set. And one third prize winner in each age category will win one of the new 200-piece Bendaroos theme packs.
Bendaroos resources to inspire kids' creativity
Each 500-piece Bendaroos set comes with a Bendaroos Fun Guide full of ideas. Children can also visit the online Bendaroos gallery to view photographs of other children's creations, learn Bendaroos building techniques, try out seasonal Bendaroos building ideas, and learn how to build many different kinds of Bendaroos creations.
