The Brisbane native was rocked by an uppercut from Alex Garcia as fans were still filing into the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, and the finish came less than a minute into the opening frame.
However, Wall left a lasting impression with fans worldwide with his epic walkout costume.
"Manimal," along with an entourage that included Invicta FC strawweight star Bec "Rowdy" Hyatt, dazzled in a fashionable outfit that included a giant Furby-style monkey head.
Hyatt, who walked a few steps behind him, wore a fuzzy rabbit costume.
"And the creepiest walkout in UFC history goes to Ben Wall," Matt Faler tweeted after the appearance.
Hyatt and Wall completed the look with synchronized dance moves as they walked out to a poppy children's song.
Wall recently signed with Legacy FC, but he received a surprise call from the UFC to step in to face fellow UFC first-timer Alex Garcia after his original UFC Fight Night 33 opponent, Andres Stahl, dropped out on short notice.
With the fight contested at welterweight, Wall was forced to stock up on carbs for over a week to move up two weight classes.
While Garcia proved to be too much for the 24-year-old, he delighted the crowd with his unique walkout. Unfortunately, he didn't receive much time inside the cage.
"Ben Wall would have been knocked out even if he was still wearing that monkey head," MMA writer Dave Doyle tweeted after the fight.
Hyatt says Wall is feeling better after his tough defeat.
"@DomTutino @BenWallMMA Manimal is okayyy :) he will be back better than ever!!" Hyatt tweeted after the fight.
With the UFC's newly-formed female 115-pound division, Hyatt will likely have her own chance to walk out with a wacky costume at a future UFC event.
