Ben Sasse: Relocate capitol to Nebraska, dismantle "socialist policies"

America's far-right, despite constantly trying to claim that it is the Democrats who are dividing the country, also lives in this magical fantasy land in which people and politics instantly become good and honest as soon as they set foot in a red state.

This is the logic Ben Sasse, a Republican Senate candidate in Nebraska, appears to be operating under.

Nothing else could possibly explain why he believes he can fix all of the problems in government by relocating the state capitol to Nebraska.

In a recent campaign advertisement, Sasse claims that he wants to "cure the incredible ineffectiveness and dysfunction of both parties in Washington" by moving "the Capitol to Nebraska where they can experience family, conservative values, living within a budget, and pulling together, not pulling apart."

"This election must be about saving our country from the establishment, dismantling Obama’s failed socialist policies and disrupting the current system," he claims. "Then we can fight the real conservative battle: protecting our values, traditional marriage, the right to life, the Second Amendment, stopping the rampant borrowing and spending, even taking on the Supreme Court if that’s what it takes."

Because who could possibly be better qualified to lecture the rest of America on values than the home of Fred Phelps?

By that same logic, all of Nebraska's conservative family-friendly Republicans should have magically turned into communist atheists as soon as they set foot in Washington.

Relocating all of the other states' Senators and Congressional leaders to Nebraska will not make them more conservative any more than relocating to Washington, D.C. will make Ben Sasse any less of a moron.
