Senator Ben Nelson a Democrat from Nebraska said he will vote for the passage of the current health care bill in the Senate now. The bill was amended by Harry Reid, Nelson had a disagreement with the abortion provisions in the bill. Nelson also spoke with the Obama administration on other matters not related to health care.
Senator Nelson said "I would not have voted for this bill if the insurance subsidies on abortion were not changed'. He also made statements about the level of friction between the two side of the aisle, causing Congress to not operate efficiently. The senator reiterated that he keeps the right to change his vote if there are changes made to the provisions that he has approved.
Nelson told reporters he looks forward to working with his colleagues in the weeks to come to make the bill even better. He was also concerned about flexible spending cap, rural health care, medicaid, and nursing home health care.
