Ben McKenzie to star as Det. Gordon on the new 'Gotham' series

Fox just announced, today, Feb. 8 that Ben McKenzie, who voiced the Batman character in the video, "Batman: Year One" will be playing the young Detective Jim Gordon in their new show, "Gotham".

It is a Batman origin story that focuses on Gordon and will show how the young Bruce Wayne, and young soon to be villains such as Penguin, Joker, Riddler, Catwoman and more.

Fox president Kevin Reilly confirmed at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that this would be a Gotham origin story that tells not only how the young Detective became Commissioner but how Bruce Wayne became Batman and more.

This is what Kevin Reilly said, “This is all of the classic Batman characters, with a young Bruce Wayne, the Penguin, the Riddler and how they came to be. What events led up to someone becoming Catwoman.This is not some adjunct companion series. This is the Batman franchise, just backing it up in chronology".

McKenzie also played in the hit shows like "Southland" and "The O.C.". This is the first casting announcement. What do you think so far? Are you looking forward to the new Fox show?
