Based on the children's novel Here Be Monsters by Alan Snow, “The Boxtrolls” is a stop-motion animated adventure from the makers of “ParaNorman.” It’s about a young, orphaned boy who is raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors, and tries to save his friends from an evil exterminator.

In the film, Elle Fanning is the voice of Winnie Portley-Rind and Ben Kingsley has a “fun and funny role” as Archibald Snatcher.

Because the "The Boxtrolls" is by the makers of “Coraline” (2009) and Elle’s sister Dakota Fanning was the lead voice in "Coraline", the moderator asked Elle about this movie. Elle shared, “I remember when she did the voice for Coraline. She did that over an 8 year span because she kept going back.”

When asked about what it was like to play a character with a British accent, Elle added with a southern accent and smile, “You all are British so I wanted to make sure it was right. I had a dialect coach that was there. I remember I’d be there and Tony would be like ok, that’s great move on, and the dialect coach was like no, no, no, that word was not right, do it again…It was nice because everything was in the voice so I worked extra hard on the accent because your facial expressions, nothing can mask it….It’s what you say."

When Moderator Dave Karger asked Ben Kingsley what it was like to play his role as Archibald Snatcher, Ben described it this way, “I loved it. I was very liberated just to depend upon on my voice to bring this extraordinary creature to life. I did most of my recordings lying down reclining on a sofa bed because I wanted his voice to come from my belly, not where my voice normally comes from so it was a very relaxed recording session.”

Looking ahead, Ben Kingsley hopes to do more comedy after "Iron Man 3" enjoyed playing a funny character in "The Boxtrolls". Ben expanded, “I love making people laugh. It’s a lovely way of communicating,..so hopefully I will do more comedy again.”
