Ben Gazzara, Big Lebowski actor, dies from pancreatic cancer

Ben Gazzara, most famous from his long running role in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway, died Friday from pancreatic cancer.  He was 81 years old.

Gazzara began acting at a young age.  He joined a local theater group at 12, and returned to acting after he attended college. 

He starred in the Broadway debut of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in 1956 and went on to star in the movie Run for Your Life in 1959. 

The actor worked up until just weeks before his death and had numerous roles in both television and movies throughout his long career. 

Ben is survived by his wife, daughters Elizabeth and Danja, and his brother.
