Ben Affleck has signed onto any potential sequels that the studio may want to make as the new ‘Batman’, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Warner Bros. has even talked about Affleck directing the “Justice League” movie, a superhero mash up like the “Avengers”.
Supposedly almost no one in Hollywood knew about the meetings, including other Warner Bros. executives who were in the dark during the negotiations.
Christopher Nolan, who produced “Man of Steel”, tried to get Affleck to direct the film that came out this summer. He declined, but with the recent reports, one wonders what exactly went on behind closed doors to make the deal happen.
Hollywood Reporter surmised why the studio made the decision and why it’s not as crazy as one would think. “ … Affleck gets to be a tentpole actor again without the tentpole actor risk.”
After Ben’s other superhero disaster, he reinvented himself as an indie filmmaker and won an Oscar for Best Picture for “Argo”. Could there be another the metamorphosis of Affleck into an amazing ‘Batman’?
“Batman vs. Superman” is set to be released sometime in 2015.
