Attention DC enthusiasts!
There is a new Batman in town. It was announced by Warner Bros. that Ben Affleck has be cast as the new cape crusader in the upcoming untitled Batman VS Superman flick. The Oscar winning actor will star next to Henry Cavill’s Superman in the Man of Steel sequel.
The announcement was made by President Greg Silverman, who released a statement confirming the news:
“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”
The film will reunite Man of Steel co-stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, along with director Zack Snyder.
Of the news of Affleck’s role as Batman, Snyder commented his excitement stating, “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
The film will open everywhere on July 17, 2015, with production beginning in 2014.
