Ben Affleck, Daniel Day Lewis, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hatheway Win Golden Globes

It was a star-studded, glamorous evening in Beverly Hills tonight as the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel . Daniel Day Lewis, Jessica Chastain, Ben Affleck, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hatheway and Jennifer Lawrence were just a few of the actors honored by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association for their on-screen work this past year.
Hosted by Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler, the ceremony also paid tribute to Jodie Foster by awarding her with the Cecil B. DeMille award. Foster gave a powerful and moving speech that deserved an award all on its own.
Two of the Golden Globe's top honors were given to actors for their portrayals of real-life heroes. The Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) award went to Daniel Day Lewis for his role as former President Lincoln in LINCOLN; while Jessica Chastain took home the trophy for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) for her performance in the film ZERO DARK THIRTY, where she played a former CIA agent during her decade-long hunt for Osama Bin Laden. “It's a beautiful feeling to receive this encouragement and support,” Chastain said on stage when she accepted her Golden Globe.
ARGO and LES MISERABLES were big winners tonight. Ben Affleck was awarded for his directing for Best Director for ARGO, which also won Best Motion Picture Drama, and LES MISERABLES won in the Best Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical) category. LES MISERABLES also gave Anne Hatheway her first Golden Globe- as she won the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical) title. Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical) went to Hugh Jackman's role in the musical.
In television, Showtime's Homeland and HBO's “Girls” dominated the categories they were in.
