He was crusading blind attorney Matt Murdock, aka the Man Without Fear known as Marvel's Daredevil, who sought justice on the streets where the legal system sometimes failed.
Now, Ben Affleck is back on the superhero radar with a vengeance as Batman, who comes into the light with a teaser photo tweeted by Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder, who also tweeted a sneak peek of the new Batmobile.
Affleck's Batman is similar to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, the acclaimed graphic novel that served as the inspiration for Tim Burton's Batman with Michael Keaton as the brooding Caped Crusader, and the trilogy from Jonathan and Christopher Nolan with Christian Bale as the brooding Dark Knight.
Batman vs. Superman, in which Henry Cavill reprise his role as the Man of Steel, also co-stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred; the film is set to pave way for the big-screen formation of the Justice League, in which Snyder will also direct.
Batman vs. Superman is expected to come into theaters on May 6, 2016.
