Critically acclaimed award winning Blue Man Group made their debut to Bemidji Sanford Center October 27, 2013. The trio well known for spectacular theatrics and impeccable Broadway style, entertained a modest crowd in Bemidji Minnesota with their stunning display of obstacles, illusions and musical performances.
The Blue Man Group was started in 1987 as a salute to the 80’s when childhood friends Chris Wink and Matt Goldman met Phil Stanton. The organization, known for their unmistakable characters coined, Blue Men, happen to be musicians/actors who don bald caps and are completely covered in blue makeup. The group performs what is being called experimental music, in their shows, with a spotlight in particular on percussion. They perform comedy, recorded music, and scores from film and television, and infuse various types of drums in the show.
The trio has appeared on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,’ ‘The Drew Carey Show,’ ‘Las Vegas,’ and many other shows including residencies on the Vegas Strip. The men used to come out of character after shows early in their career, and would sign autographs, and answer questions from fans. However, like the show, where not a word is spoken, they now remain in character even after the show. The only autograph fans will get now is a blotch of blue paint.
