'Beloved Family Pet Viciously Shot in Own Backyard; Authorities Turn Blind Eye' (Photos)

July 19, 2012 the Grant Parish Sheriffs Office was dispatched to a residence in Pollock, Louisiana. It was reported multiple shots were heard being fired and a family pet was found bleeding to death in a fenced back yard.

Upon arrival, the authorities were informed Mr. & Mrs. Slaughters' neighbor, an employee of the GPSO Grant Parish Sheriff's Office) was the perpetrator who had fired 7 shots into the Slaughters family pet named "Man", of 14 years. Reports were being written up, and information was being falsely documented from the moment the police arrived. The shooter claimed to have fired the weapon in self-defense of his own family pet who was being attacked at the time, and claimed, to have only fired shots at "Man" one time. Seven bullets casing were found at the scene, but this was not included in the report, nor other facts such as the shooter's dog was in his wife's arms when the victim's family came running outside when they heard the shots.

It seems because the shooter was a fellow co-worker and regarded an upstanding citizen in the area the incident was blown over, ignored, shoved under the rug.

The family has dedicated a memorial page to "Man" where condolences can be sent. The Slaughter family has reached out to the local media in attempts to raise awareness of the situation; essentially no one wants to touch it with a 10 foot pole. The police reports are conflicting, yet remain public for anyone wishing to reach out and help the Slaughter family bring justice to this small community.

Mrs. Slaughter says "Just wish we could get Justice for our baby..............What happened to your private property? What happened to keeping your animals contained on your private property? I just don't understand why we should suffer when we did nothing wrong and our baby never left our yard? He should have felt safe and protected in his own home, well he wasn't. What about the rest of my babies? I understand the same thing can happen to them if his dog gets in my yard. What happened to trespassing? I just don't understand any of this and don't believe any of this is fair!"
