Bellingham United accepted into the Pacific Coast Soccer League

Representatives from the fledgling Bellingham United Football Club made their presentation for entry into the Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL) today. A few hours later this email was sent to owner Jeff McIntyre:

On behalf of the Pacific Coast Soccer League, I am pleased to inform you that the PCSL Board of Directors, unanimously approved the Bellingham United FC application for membership to the PCSL, for the 2012 Season.

The League looks forward to a long & successful relationship, & will continue to support your Club, with all your efforts to insure its ongoing success. Please contact us if we can be of any assistance.

Regards,
Dave Collard,
PCSL, President

B.U.F.C. have already come a long way this year, despite not yet taking the pitch for their first match. We spoke with McIntyre in February about the founding of the club. "Starting a club has been a dream of mine for a long time," McIntyre told us at the time. "When we started Ruffneck Scarves back in 2007, one of my goals was to start a club in the region once the business had reached a certain level of success. The reason why we're taking action now is because we have the resources to build and market a club successfully and we feel that Bellingham is the perfect location."

All the while the club has been preparing for their presentation to the PCSL and even posting scores from the league matches of this season on their Facebook page. It looks like Surrey United have been dubbed their future derby mates.

A supporters group has sprung to life for the Black and White. The Hammers Supporters Club (HSC) are already active. They recently had a presence in Bellingham's Sea to Ski Parade (see video at left). It's a natural fit to nickname the side "The Hammers," with a city whose name ends in Belling-HAM.
