On Sat. May 31, 2014, Mayor Karl Dean put his feet where his mouth is and chose Bellevue's Harpeth River Greenway at the Harpeth Valley Golf Center as the location for his first “Walk with the Mayor” group walk, part of his "Walk 100 Miles Nashville" healthy-living campaign.
Dean started the day with a short speech and then was joined by Metro Parks and Greenways for Nashville for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the new stretch of the Harpeth River Greenway, which is now connected to Warner Parks. Bellevue residents including Metro Council members Bo Mitchell, Charlie Tygard, Sheri Weiner, and Metro Parks director Tommy Lynch were on hand for the ceremony.
Several houndred walkers and their four-legged friends joined Dean and the dignitaries for the inaugural walk.
Bellevue-area residents who missed Saturday’s walk will have another opportunity to take part in an evening walk in Edwin Warner Park at 7 p.m., on Thurs., July 10.
