Bella Capo's dream of helping others through her book is coming true

The journey of La Bella Mafia, the book, began almost two years ago when Bella Capo came out of hiding to write her book with the sole wish of helping others who might be enduring what she did.

Today, as the end of National Child Abuse Prevention Month approaches, another step is being made toward that dream by working with Annette Scott of S.A.F.E. House and the Community Relations Manager for Barnes & Noble. Bella tells it in her own words.

Good morning and happy Wednesday!

It’s a very exciting day today as MaMaB and I will be going underground in the secret location of S.A.F.E. House in Henderson NV to speak to women and children in hiding.

I was so heart-touched yesterday meeting Jenna Moreno, the hairstylist who will be doing some makeovers and giving these ladies beauty tips as well today.

I know what it feels like to have to run for your life for safety. I, however, as an adult was denied safety with the authorities while my ex-husband and his buddies threatened and stalked me with death daily. Because he was already involved politically and he had deeper connections than the average bear, they were protecting the wrong person. That doesn’t take knowing the feeling away from me. I slept for a month straight once I did get me and my daughters to safety and shook for years. Seven years of therapy, two-and-a-half years of school, a book and a movement later, I am doing my dream which is to speak to other victims hands-on, knowing their reality and knowing they too can have a real life once again. Please throw in a little prayer for God to give me the right words, the right stories and the right examples that will move these women’s lives today! God Bless you all and Thank you! Bella Capo, ~ La Bella Mafia

The book has touched so many people since its publication and Bella now hopes to expand her efforts in other cities and states. She is available for interviews. Following her visit to S.A.F.E. House, the Book Fair at Barnes & Noble, 567 Stephanie St., Henderson NV on April 26 will feature a talk by Bella from 1:00-3:00 detailing episodes in her life that could have resulted in her death and inspiration for all survivors. She will answer questions candidly. Sales throughout the store on April 26 and 27 will benefit S.A.F.E. House when “Book Fair” is mentioned at checkout. Online sales of all items from the Barnes & Noble website nationally will also benefit this shelter when the code 11342565 is entered at checkout, extending through May 1.
