Sandwiched between the railroad tracks in downtown Kalamazoo, Bell’s Eccentric Café is the Celery City’s very own brewing establishment, providing quality entertainment, good laughs, and best of all, quality beer. .jpg)
Located on Kalamazoo Avenue in downtown Kalamazoo, the Bell’s Eccentric Café is Bell’s Brewing Company’s home for great brews on tap and lots of fun for all to see. If you’ve never heard of Bell’s in Kalamazoo, you are truly missing out on fantastic beers. Bell’s is home to famous beers such as the popular Oberon and Two-Hearted Ale, as well as lesser known beers such as the Java Stout and Hell Hath No Fury. All beers have been great to enjoy, but are certainly for those who enjoy a good beer when they want a drink.
Aside from the beer collection, the café has a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a relaxing evening at the bar. Upon entering the café, nothing seems too out of the ordinary. You will find very standard bathrooms, a very standard ATM, and tasteful, but very standard posters for upcoming shows. Once you take a step into the main room of the café, you will find that the café is called eccentric for a reason. It is difficult to keep your eyes focused on one place when you enter, and most people can be seen sweeping their eyes from corner to corner soaking in all that the café has to offer.
There are maps from Africa to the United States in the 1800s, large bugs that can easily give you chills, masks from the likes of Dr. Seuss, and a variety of other objects that will steal your attention from the lovely bar full of at least a dozen beers on tap, including some not commonly found in stores.
If you choose to excite your mind, there are tables to play checkers or chess, many bar stools to enjoy one another’s company, and even more eccentric artifacts to look at. There are signs from a variety of older brewing companies, businesses in and near Kalamazoo, and from the street itself. You can even find an old piano crashed in the corner near the fire exit. You will also notice an area that looks suspiciously like a stage area.
Bell’s is home a great variety of concerts all year long. During the summer months, the Beer Garden is open for people to enjoy the outdoors and to find great music Thursday through Sunday. The Beer Garden is home to one of the most interesting and pleasing stages in the area, and provides ample room to enjoy a good dance with several of your closest friends. If the weather isn’t cooperating, or winter is upon us, the music is moved inside to the staging area. While the bar is certainly more crowded, the music and commotion provide for an atmosphere unmatched by any other in town.
Bell’s is not only for the beer aficionado. The bar offers several sodas and fizzy drinks to satisfy the average American. Additionally, Bell’s has a kitchen to serve up delicious dishes of tasty bar food to quench any appetite.
If you ever find yourself in Kalamazoo searching for a good drink, good music, or a good time, make a stop at Bell’s Eccentric Café and you will never be disappointed. For more information please visit http://www.bellsbeer.com.
