A Daily Word from the Word for Thursday, August 28, 2014
“Now to God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” – Ephesians 3:20
Do you need more abundance in your life, my brother? Do you need someone who is able, my sister? Then claim this promise of God for yourself! Every believer has the power of God working in them. This isn’t just any power, this is dunamis (pr. doo-nam-is) power—which is special Holy Spirit power!
This “power” that works within every born-again son and daughter of the Most High God is dunamis power, which is “a literal or figurative force, miraculous power, ability, abundance, meaning, might, wonderful work” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). The Creator’s power is demonstrated both in the spiritual realm, and literally, in the natural realm, coming only from the Spirit of the Living God.
The Greek word for “able” is dunamai (pr. doo-nam-ahee), and is God’s power. The amazing thing about this word is that it is a progressive word, meaning it is a living and active word that still operates today. Whenever you see the suffix “ai” (ahee) at the end of a Greek word, it denotes this characteristic of being a right-now word.
Hebrews 13:8 testifies of this all-consuming, mountain-moving, miracles-signs-and-wonders-producing, resurrection power, as it energizes the universe testifying that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” The same dumanis power that the prophet Elijah used to call fire down from heaven, which killed 450 false prophets is the same power that works in every believer today (1 Kings 18:22). This same Holy Spirit (dunamis) power that the Apostles used to heal the sick is available to us today (Acts). This same dumanis power that Jesus used to raise Lazarus from the dead is inside every Spirit-filled believer (Luke 7:12-17). And this very same Power from on High that raised Jesus Himself from the grave is available to every one of God’s children!
John 16:7 breathes life into this truth as it blows to and fro the earth: Nevertheless I [Jesus] tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. The Savior of the world makes this deposit into every saved life: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father” (John 14:12). And 1 John 4:4 seals this promise in every believer with fire from heaven as it proclaims “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
So why isn’t it working for you? Do you grab hold of the Savior’s “most assuredly” that He etched in John 14:12? Do you eat God’s Word as manna from heaven, so that “most assuredly” can get inside of your spirit, take root, and become a part of you? And speaking of “do”: what God is able to “do” (poieo, pr. poy-eh-o) is “to make or do, abide, agree, band together, without any delay.”
Are you abiding with God; thereby banding together with His Holy Spirit? This isn’t time for condemnation, but a surge of conviction, family! The devil condemns, but God convicts. And this is a Word from the Lord, so receive that conviction! Let us all be convicted to operate more fully in the power of our Divine Daddy! It is ours to receive, so receive it! It’s getting hot up in here! Holy Ghost hot!
The “exceeding” that the Father bestows upon His children is hooper (pr. hooper)—“above, beyond, very chiefest,” where “chiefest” is “of greatest importance or influence” (Webster). “Abundantly” as used here is “denoting origin (the point where motion or action proceeds), from out (of place or cause), exceedingly, abundantly above.”
True abundance only comes from above by our God Who is constantly in motion and action. Our above “all” is our promise of “thoroughly, whatsoever, whole.” Jesus affirms the Father’s promise as He decrees and declares “And whatsoever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14:13-14).
In God is wholeness. There is nothing missing, lacking, or broken. And His power, which is available to you, is above and beyond anything we could ask or think, but not beyond our reach. So reach for it now, my brother. Reach higher, my sister. And reach deeper, my family. For in Him, by His wonder-working power, is everything we need pertaining to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world (2 Peter 1:3-4).
Father, endue us with Your Dunamis Power from on High. Help us, Holy Father, to rest in Your assurance. We believe, Lord, help our unbelief (Mark 9:24). Make us whole, Most Holy Father. Make us righteous, Most Righteous King. Take us deeper in You, Most Divine Spirit of the Living God. In Jesus Name, we thank You that we walk in the “above and beyond,” which is Your supernatural. Amen and Amen.
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to operate in God’s “most assuredly” every single day. Determine to walk in God’s Dunamis Power always, by allowing His Power to dwell and abide in you. Set your mind on the “above and beyond,” which is the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). And continue to fight the good fight of walking in the Father’s exceeding and abundant overflow; for God, your Immeasurably More, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
