Belfast, located in Northern Ireland, is a bustling area with all kinds of artistic and historical things to see. It has everything for everyone.
To start, there is a main shopping district for all the people looking for souvenirs or new clothes. It is located north of the main square, Donegall Square, where the city hall is located.
If history is a main priority in travel, visiting the Queen's University Belfast should be high on the list. The notable war memorial in the main entrance is very interesting to look at, as well as the towering building itself. The building is beautiful architecturally, as well as being somewhat famous for its students. Seamus Heaney, Nobel Prize winning poet, and Liam Neeson, actor, both attended the university.
Belfast is also home to Samson and Goliath, two yellow cranes in the Harland & Wolff shipyards that were used to build the Titanic in 1911. Tours are available through Lagan Boat Company.
If history isn't quite your cup of tea, visit the Crown Liquor Saloon. This pub, built in 1885, still signifies extravagant Victorian architecture. The outside itself is coverened in tiles, and inside they have the original (but no longer in use) bells used to order drinks without having to go to the bar.
If instead your thing is to walk around and see the city, there are many statues located throughout the city. There is a metal woman holding a hoop along one of the main roads. There is a giant mosaic fish near the water. There are even more murals and statues sporadically throughout the streets for people to view.
Belfast is fairly easy to get around in, walking through, and enjoying. The Botanic Gardens and Ulster Museum are worth a trip, even if just for a short time. Overall, Belfast is a greatly cultural area, filled with art and history.
