Games with great atmosphere can be hard to come by. "Slender Rising" has just that.
The game is done from a first person perspective. It is your job to collect signs scattered and hidden around each level. There seems to be no real goal in collecting these signs and no way to escape the Slender Man. He always seems to get you in the end.
If you run into this mystical being, you can swipe the screen and run away. It is the only chance you have.
The best part of "Slender Rising" is the atmosphere. There are two modes of play, night and day. Of course the night is scary but don't be turned off by the day, it has enough chills of its own with its use of light and shadow.
A small red arrow will appear on the screen for you to follow to the closest sign. When you get close enough you will hear faint whispers in the woods. The visuals and noises are scary, actually scarier than most scary movies out today. The game being designed the way it is there is not much to it but this doesn't matter. It is meant to frighten and startle and in this it does not disappoint.
The Slender Man himself is very cool looking. His black suit and featureless face make for a creepy image. He appears out of nowhere, causing you to question how long he has been stalking you.
If you are looking for a game with great visuals as well as slow and creepy atmosphere then "Slender Rising" is worth checking out.
