Being faithful to the word

While reading my Bible in 1 Peter the other day, I was jerked up by my collar when I read Chapter 4, verse 10, which says….

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” NIV

Reading that immediately led to self-examination of just what God-given gifts I had been given and which ones I was using for God’s glory.  I came up short in a couple of areas:

1- My gift of singing has not been used to glorify the Lord for many weeks, so when Curtis, the gentleman in charge of the “Men of Action Ministry” at our church asked me to sing at a special “Men of Action” dinner on 9/23 I accepted.  Thank you Lord.

2- My trumpet has been silent in the Praise Band at church for several months for various reasons, but I played this past Saturday and Sunday and plan to play as often as I can in the future.

3- My gift of writing produced a recently published novel, entitled ‘Homecoming’, lifting up the Lord and His power of faith and forgiveness, but my other outlets for which I write have not contained anything but smatterings of kudos to Him who makes it all possible.

Other than that my pen, or word-processor, has been fairly silent concerning the importance of a person allowing the Lord to become an active player his or her daily life.  It is my intent that I will change... Just thought you needed to know.  Love you all!
