Behind the scenes of Wangan

The word "Wangan" is quickly spreading through out JDM cultures in the USA and abroad. Wangan culture is an amazing collection of automotive talent and artistic expression originating from Japan. The mechanical blend of these two attributes brings forth a very unique automotive experience. High speed expressway racing with an exotic blend of JDM culture from various groups is what makes the Wangan experience complete. Expect to find motorcycles and vans around the Wangan parked right beside the likes of Nissan Skyline, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Supra, and others famous JDM stars such as Nissan Fairlady Z; "The Devil Z".

The most notorious vehicle in Wangan history is "The Devil Z", a Nissan Fairlady Z (S30), known in the United States as the Datsun 240Z. This vehicle is depicted in the anime series and upcoming movie "Wangan Midnight". The movie illustrates the passion of automotive performance and the dangers encountered while releasing their mechanical beasts on public roadways. You never know what is around that next corner!

The JDM culture of America is slightly different than what is found in Japan. Japan's JDM scene is more liberal regarding vehicle expression, while America is much more conservative and sleek. From the footage shown below, the Wangan JDM style has much more flare, exotic colors, and wild use of lighting technology. Vehicle graphics displaying products used, group affiliation, and other various statements are commonly found in both American and Wangan JDM culture.

Both types of automotive culture have their own unique identity which the participants have directly created. The JDM performance scene is currently dominated by legendary Smoky Nagata and Mr. Chiba with their amazing top speed mechanical art! True top speed professionals, these guys know Wangan business. Do not under estimate that vehicle you see with a Top Secret logo! It is very fast!  Check out the following video of the Wangan automotive culture! Keep an eye out for the Top Secret Nissan Z!
