Behind Brandon Browner reinstatement: Will he stay with Seattle Seahawks?

The NFL has made a surprising move when it comes to the suspension of one Seattle Seahawks player. On March 4, Sporting News reported that Brandon Browner revealed on his Twitter that he had been reinstated by the NFL. Browner had just been suspended by the NFL back in November, and he was getting ready to go to court to reverse the suspension. He won't have to do that now. He first appealed the suspension back in December, but his appeal was denied on Dec. 18. That is when his suspension went into full effect, and it was supposed to last one year.

The NFL has not commented on his reinstatement, but Browner's agent confirmed the news as well. Browner was suspended for violating the substance abuse policy. He failed two drug tests. Browner said the following on his Twitter:

I received wonderful news today. The NFL has reinstated me, and now I have the opportunity to prove to the fans and my teammates how important this sport is to me. I realize now more than ever that being part of the NFL is not a right, but a privilege.

Why the sudden change of heart by the NFL? According to USA Today, the suspension was lifted as a part of a settlement deal that coincides with Browner becoming an unrestricted free agent next week. He might be a part of the Seattle Seahawks now, but he might not be on their roster for long. This deal would allow him to find a new team and sign next week.

With the suspension lifted, he could take part in all off season activities, and he will be able to play the start of the 2014 season. With the suspension, he would have been banned from playing several games of the 2014 season.

How do you feel about the reinstatement? Do you think he will find a new team to call home soon?
