Cats in general are highly sociable, intelligent, and loving animals, but if they feel threatened in any way, they can inflict serious injuries, so if you are considering rescuing a stray cat there is one important tip you need to know before doing so. It is important that you befriend the stray cat by establishing a high level of trust with the cat you are intending to rescue.
Befriending a stray cat is vital to establishing an ongoing loving relationship that will last a lifetime. Stray cats are often fearful, anxious, and angry due to the rough life on the streets as well as negative experiences with people. One of the most easiest ways to befriend a stray cat is through food. Just as food is the way to a man's heart, food is also the way to a cat's heart! All you have to do is leave food out for the stray cat in a safe place outside and increase how often you do this throughout the day and slowly increase your presence to make sure the cat sees you as she is eating the food. As you continue to do this over the course of two weeks or so, begin to initiate affection by softly rubbing the cat's furry head and talking to her.
Continue this routine for another week or so until the cat is able to be within your presence without being jumpy, and when you feel that the moment is right kindly lure her inside of a cat carrier and bring her home! As you can see, with love and patience, it is very easy as well as rewarding to befriend and rescue a stray cat.
