We may hear the iconic “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” phrase once again as talks of Tim Burton returning to direct "Beetlejuice 2" swirl the media stratosphere, reported the Huffington Post on Oct. 21, 2013.
Sources say that Warner Bros. offered Burton the opportunity to direct the “Beetlejuice” sequel; however insiders say that he hasn't signed on for the project yet, nor has he even read the current draft of the script (written by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg).
According to the Los Angeles Times, Tim Burton and Michael Keaton are both reportedly likely to return for the sequel to “Beetlejuice”. It’s hard to believe the cherished ghostly comedy became a box office hit and a cultural sensation 25 years ago.
So can audiences expect to see the return of beloved husband and wife Adam and Barbara ((Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), the “strange and unusual” Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder), or Lydia’s father Charles and wacky step-mom Delia (Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O’Hara)? It is possible but there’s still no word yet on this matter. (Sadly Glenn Shadix who played Otho passed away in 2010 from an accidental death).
If Burton does say yes to the “Beetlejuice” sequel, fans will have to wait rather patiently because the man of many talents has a lot on his plate right now (and we don’t mean shrimp cocktail- get the “Beetlejuice reference?).
The director is currently working on the film "Big Eyes”, the story of artist Margaret Keane (who’s known for drawing over-sized, doe-eyed children) and her husband. He has also been scheduled to direct "Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children" for 20th Century Fox.
