SF Beer Week

Pliny the Younger.

This could be a three word article. But let's delve a little deeper. This is SF Beer Week after all, and though many see it as synonymous with Russian River's prized triple IPA, there are many wonderful beers that come out of the woodwork during this week.

Obviously Pliny is a must try. But you know that. Here are a few other rare beers I recommend sampling during the rest of SF Beer Week:

Social's Jungle Cruise IIIPA - Absolutely incredible triple IPA. The nose on this beer is fantastic, and the citrus flavor is extremely strong. No events or lines to try this, just show up at Social by 9th and Irving.

Prairie Ales' Bomb! - The first stout that made me say "wow" after a sip. A few places have Prairie-centric events this week, but I'm planning on drinking it at Mikkeller Bar tonight.

Russian River's Beatification - Russian River rare sour is a delight. If you had to choose between getting Younger again or trying this for the first time, go with this. Might be at Toronado for the "tion" event tonight. Prepare for crowds.

Almanac's Valley of the Heart's Delight - Lately seems like Almanac can do no wrong. They have a bunch of great sours out right now, but this it probably my favorite. Wonderfully crafted, grab it at Zeitgeist or Blackbird tonight.

FiftyFifty Eclipse Bourbon Barrel Aged - The Sycamore in the Mission is having a night to remember on 2/13. Prepare for Valentine's Day by drinking in eight (!!) types of bourbon barrel aged FiftyFifty Eclipses.

Firestone's Sucaba - Only one on this list I have yet to try. Hoping to change that by going to Portal in Oakland where they'll have this and other beers by Firestone and Lagunitas to end Beer Week right.
