Beer, like flowers for Dad (Photos)

The Bruery Provisions is a great place to spoil dad; located in Orange California. Dad is infamously difficult to buy for, he gets his tech as he needs it, shirts when mom says they are worn out and tools just because. What do you get the dad who has everything – beer, and maybe some nice cheese.

When you step into this unassuming charcuterie you are greeted by a cheery welcome and an offer to peruse the shop and feel free to ask questions. The pride in this shop is evident from the onset, the staff all are ready and able to discuss the varied beverages and cheeses available as well as the not so average treats like beer brittle. There is a home quality to this shop and you will even find it has a nice selection of tasting flights, tapas even a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches to enjoy on their newly opened patio.

The beers are mostly micro-brews with names like Sour in the Rye and Loakal Red, brewed locally in Palcentia. They are especially proud of their anniversary brew, Fruet, which is carefully blended with prior years using the Solara method to create a beer currently at 15% alcohol content, aged 100 days in a bourbon barrel and served well chilled this is not a ballpark brew. The method is time consuming but creates a complex and rich beverage with notes of chocolate, molasses and maple syrup. This is a sipping beer, much like a fine brandy is is meant to be leisurely enjoyed with a fine plate of fruits, meats and cheese and of course the company of good friends.

The cheese selection is delightful with names to entice such as Midnight Moon, Red Dragon and Truffle Tremor. The heady aromas beg to be toasted with a Sour Rye or a heady bock. You may sit inside as well at one of the rustic community tables that encourages cheers and jocularity. This is a good place to shop for Dad and even better; bring him in to raise a glass.
