Beer is in the spotlight at Frankenmuth, Michigan's World Expo of Beer

Beer connoisseurs and aficionados, rejoice and head for the World Expo of Beer being held in Frankenmuth, Michigan on Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17 where you can sample lots of beer and support a good cause at the same time. It is approximately a 4 hour drive from Cleveland.

World Expo of Beer Michigan's largest international beer sampling event, the World Expo of Beer will feature over 300 different beers from around the world. All proceeds will be donated to charitable causes and organizations.

The World Expo of Beer will be held at Frankenmuth's Heritage Park. Over 75 breweries will be participating and offering beer, pilsners, ales, stouts and lagers for sampling. Among the participants will be Akron's Thirsty Dog Brewing Company.

Visitors can also take part in a Beer School in addition to enjoying entertainment by live bands, dining on local cuisine and watching demonstrations.

Speaking of local cuisine, visitors can partake of a Friday Fine Food and Craft Brew Pairing with a multi-course dinner created by The Bavarian Inn Lodge's executive chef with each course paired with a Michigan craft beer. Cost is $60 per person and it includes one admission to the World Expo of Beer and the dinner experience.

Admission to the World Expo is $8 and includes a free collector beer sampling mug or you can get an advance package deal that includes one day's admission and 8 beer tickets for $18. You must be at least 21 years of age to be admitted to the World Expo of Beer.

Hours for the Expo are 5 p.m.- 10 p.m. on Friday, May 16 and 3 p.m. - 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 17.

Visitors will be able to purchase World Expo of Beer 2014 T-shirts in addition to beer-related merchandise like bottle openers and souvenir mugs.

Heritage Park is located at 601 Weiss St. in Frankenmuth, Michigan. It is approximately a 4 hour drive from Cleveland to Frankenmuth via I-75 (Exit 136).
