Back to school is not something usually talked about in the closing days of June. But when it comes to children in need, there is no reason to wait until late August to start gathering school supplies and making a difference. A Houston area brewery is doing exactly that and it invites you to join in the effort. Here is some background information:
Event: Beer for Backpacks at the Brewery 8 p.m.
Location: Saint Arnold Brewing, 2000 Lyons Rd., Houston, TX
Date and Time: Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to
Beer for Backpacks is an annual Saint Arnold event and the way it works is simple enough. You, the charitable, beer loving individual, are asked to bring one child’s backpack along with two (or more) items from this list:
- 1 subject wide-ruled notebook
- 4 pocket folders with brads/assorted colors
- 1 packet of loose leaf wide-ruled paper
- 1 box of 24-ct crayons
- 2 glue sticks
In exchange for these acts of generosity, Saint Arnold Brewing will reward you, not with cash, but with something even better: Beer! You, the kind and philanthropic person that you are, deserve a reward and Saint Arnold is ready to open the taps in your honor. All regular release beers will be available for your enjoyment, compliments of the house, with special release beers available for purchase.
Like in the past, Texas State Representative Jessica Farrar will be present to talk about the school supply drive effort to help kids in need. It’s a great way to show your unselfish side, support the local community, and imbibe in a glass or two of your favorite Saint Arnold brew. Beer for Backpacks happens only once per year, so grab a backpack, add a few supplies, and make your way to Saint Arnold Brewing this Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 5:30 p.m..
