The popular Cartoon Hangover two-part short, ‘Bee and Puppycat’, has begun a kickstarter to fund new episodes. Over four million hits on YouTube to date have made the demand for the show clear and thanks to the contributions of viewers, a continued series may finally become a reality.
The Kickstarter minimum has been set at $600,000, a seemingly lofty price, but since it's begun, fans have already raised over $400,000 and the drive will continue until Thursday Nov 14, 2:49 p.m. EST. The number of episodes will also raise as funds go up, capping at 11 episodes for $1,000,000. In order to raise incentive, contributors will receive a variety of limited-time extras, including souvenirs like plushie dolls and t-shirts, a ‘Bee and PuppyCat’ comic book, a DVD of bonus features and animatics, and early access to the new episodes. For the many fans eager to see Bee and PuppyCat’s continued adventures, this is a perfect chance to show their love and support for the series.
Although the fundraiser amount seems steep, the Frederator Studios, the producing company behind the original two-part short, promises to deliver on the same quality fans fell in love on YouTube and Cartoon Hangover’s site. The animation will be hand-drawn and the story will go further in depth on PuppyCat’s mysterious past as well as Bee’s new life as an intergalactic temp worker. If the minimum funds are reached by the deadline, expect to see the first new episode released summer 2014.
