Beck rankles Ron Paul camp

On Beck's show today he interviewed Debra Medina, a Libertarian Republican candidate for the governor's race in Texas. Early in the interview, Beck took intimidating jabs at Medina repeatedly asking her about her background in an attempt to throw her off balance. It was clear from the beginning that Beck had no intention in gathering information as he would not allow Medina to finish her sentences and clearly was not listening.

What became obvious later in the interview was the question that Beck was holding in the back of his mind which would score the necessary points the portly pundit craved. He then asked Medina if she was a "911 Truther". This was a clear attack on Medina's association with Ron Paul who has many followers who question the myriad of unsettling discrepancies regarding the events that took place on September 11, 2001. This was the perfect opportunity to relegate a viable grassroots candidate into the arena of "fringe".

It is obvious to anyone that Ron Paul's stance has always been antiestablishmentarian. This viewpoint appeals to anyone who perceives major corporations and big government, and especially the merger of the two, as a threat to the average citizen. This is why Dr. Paul's message has resonated with people on both sides of the political spectrum, such as Bill Maher and Pat Buchanan. Its appeal is even greater among conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones of InfoPlanet. Should Ron Paul back off of his support for Constitutional freedoms because the message resonates with someone like Jones? Jesse Ventura is a self-proclaimed Obama supporter, yet has pubicly questioned the events surrounding 911. In fact, Fox gave Jesse his own show in order to appeal to conservatives who share his distrust of big government.

Regardless, the loose associations of Ron Paul's supporters have no bearing on Medina's bid for Texas governor whatsoever. Neither do her personal beliefs regarding September 11th. In fact, when it comes to conspiracy theories, Beck himself isn't exactly mainstream. He is still widely known for his personal tirades regarding FEMA camps. No, this was a direct shot at Ron Paul himself.

Beck has often pointed out that he is no fan of Ron Paul. However, if he were to blatantly come out and rail against Dr. Paul, he would lose a major portion of his audience. Even though the hard core libertarian element dismissed Beck a long time ago because of his obvious neo-conservative alliance, Beck has managed to worm his way into favor with a large number of disgruntled Republican voters. However, Beck's actions with Medina today clearly drew a line in the sand. Beck is no supporter of Ron Paul.

Why would Beck take such a stance when he himself often reports on government plots and secret meetings? One answer might be found in the recent targets of his political satire, Progressives. Beck has recently taken up a mantra against progressive liberals whom he percieves to be steering the country on a wrong course. Ron Paul's liberty message has a very strong appeal to Progressives as well because of its focus on corpora-political fascism. As a recent article by Jane Hamsher pointed out, "The independent libertarians in the tea party movement probably have more points of honest intersection with progressives on the war, civil liberties, accountability and transparency than with the GOP and the "For Sale" sign they've affixed to the taxpayer trough."

As Hamsher points out, it is no secret regarding the enmeshment of huge corporations and political parties. It is also no secret regarding Fox's firing of two reporters who broke the story regarding Monsanto and its experiments with bovine growth hormone. Medina is a people's candidate brave enough to stand up to both the Federal Government and Big Corp. The question is, who is Beck working for?

I heard the interview & glenn lost a listener to his radio show & viewer of his tv show today because of problem he seems to have with the "9-11 truthers",Hey beck, who or what the hell are you wanting people to "QUESTION WITH BOLDNESS"?

    Good work!

Beck is trying to split the Tea Party movement from Ron Paul supporters. I've noticed his bashing of Progressives on his radio show a while ago, and I couldn't quite understand why? He babbles on about them, but he doesn't even know what he's talking about. I see it in full view now, after that interview with Debra Medina. Beck is dangerous.

Thanks for exposing the wolf behind sheep clothing. I've been suspicious of Glenn Beck ever since he did not support Ron Paul for president. Here was a candidate that supported everything Beck wanted but the military industrial complex. As a liberterian we know the military industrial complex is suppressive to our overall freedoms and liberty in the US.

It's funny, cause Beck's big rise to stardom happened during the 2008 campaign while the Ron Paul camp was gaining significant steam. After Obama's election, Ron Pauls movement took off to new heights, and evidently so did Beck's career as his show started to nicely pander to Libertarian ideals while still holding on to the neo-con he always was. This interview drew a line in the sand, and many smart Ron Paul Supporters will stop watching his show or radio and he will yearn for the support he had back.

    Well said.

I gave Glenn Beck the benefit of the doubt and even defended his name in conversations with others, but now I am convinced that Glenn Beck is not one bit concerned with what's right with America as has tip-toed himself into the Tea Party movement to divide and conquer. Glenn Beck has destroyed his own character and has shown his true colors. I was going to vote for Perry, but after today, I am going to vote for Medina. I spent time on her website after the interview with Beck and realized that Mrs. Medina is clearly the best candidate out of the bunch. Thank you Beck for showing me how much of an jerk you are and please call so-to-be ex-governor Perry and tell him how you helped destroy his campaign you fool.

Wow, great article, well written, thanks.

Thank you Beck for showing your true neo con colors. You are no libertarian and no friend to the truth movement. After going to Debra Medina's website I will be supporting her now and not Rick Perry.

Glenn Beck is a Tea o Con.

Call me a truther. It's much better than being called a liar, which is what Glen Beck is. He is a lying, deceiving, piece of excrement.

I too was willing to give Beck a listen. In fact, I've listened a lot over the course of 6 months, seeing what I thought was a steady progression towards a more sane Libertarian Philosophy. Now I realize that Beck is an unrepentant Neo Con, covered in sheep skin to fool the sheeple. I will never listen to him again. That's a promise. Even on the basic level of journalistic professionalism, his interview with Medina was childish, misguided and absurd in the extreme. I suppose that shouldn't surprise me to much, but this was way over the top even by Glen Beck standards (low as they apparently are).

Great article....GB is a major neo con. Why doesn't he have Rick Perry on his show and ask him about what was said at the Bilderberg meeting he attended?
PS...did Glenn say he would french kiss Perry?

I witnessed via the radio, Debra Medina's stance on property rights today. I was surprised, not heard near enough. And it far out ways this whole distraction on 911. I'm somewhat dismayed by Glenn's approach, ummm
his rant on the truthers desires to see this government go down is wrong, it is the elected officials in government, not the framework that the founders put into place. Glenn!!!!!! that need to down. And Really, how do you assoiciate someone who takes a stand on property rights, with a communist (Anthony 'Van' Jones). Think Glenn, the two don't mix. That is just the first plank Glenn, their all in force here. We need people with these beliefs, and I'm not talking about the distaction. Bottom line Glenn Beck, totally distracted the listeners of his program away from this very important and valued right. I question you Glenn.

Property is the holy grail in LAW!
